Mabona said the Department is working towards having all pupils placed in schools by the end of the weekend.

The Department commended principals in high-pressure areas for assisting the process by increasing their capacities to accommodate learners who live close to the schools.

Mabona said this contributed significantly to placement.

“The Department wishes to reiterate its sincerest apologies for any inconvenience experienced. We thank all parents for their patience during this busy period, and wish all learners well for the next academic year,” said Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi.

Parents who had not yet received SMS update son their placement applications were urged to log on to the Department's website to check placement updates.
