Gauteng government spokesperson Thabo Masebe says Lumka paid a company, Shimo IT Solutions, R48.8mil when government had no contract with the company.

Lumka has been on special leave since May last year following an investigation by Ernest & Young.

Masebe also says Lumka incurred GDF irregular expenditure of R2.1mil when he signed the Shimo Project Charter.

He also paid Shimo a cancellation fee of R1mil that caused GDF fruitless expenditure.

The government has asked its attorneys to advise them on whether Lumka, who faced three charges of financial misconduct, can face criminal charges.
