Gauteng - get ready for increased policing this festive season
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Gauteng police will do everything in their power to protect people in the province during the festive season.
That's according to Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General, Deliwe De Lange, who briefed the media on the official launch of the festive season operations at malls, shopping centres, taxi ranks, highways and other areas.
De Lange says thousands of police officers will be deployed to shopping centres and other possible crime hotspots.
"We received approximately 2000 students from the college. Those students will be posted all over the malls. We will be posting approximately 13 000 metro officers in all areas of Gauteng as well as 32 000 members of SAPS," says De Lange.
De Lange warned motorists who plan on driving under the influence.
"I cannot say for security reasons where the roadblocks will be set up, but believe me, we will be covering all the roads of Gauteng," says De Lange.
