A group of provincial healthcare workers were hijacked and robbed in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria, on Wednesday.

The Department of Health in Gauteng says the healthcare workers from the Stanza Bopape Community Health Centre were conducting their normal household visits at Section 14 in Mamelodi when they were approached by two suspects.
The suspects hijacked the state vehicle and robbed the team of their cell phones and cash.
Gauteng Health spokesperson Motalatale Modiba says a case of robbery and theft has been opened.
"The SAPS managed to recover the white VW Polo sedan, which had already been fitted with fake number plates at Extension 11 in Mamelodi, later in the day.
"Counselling has been arranged for the affected staff members.
"This attack happens at the time when the department is strengthening its outreach programme to townships, informal settlements and hostel communities, which is meant to improve access to health services to previously disadvantaged areas.”
