Two awaiting trial prisoners, who launched a daring escape while enroute to the Vosloorus Magistrates in Boksburg, have been rearrested.
Nkululeko Nkomo and Robert Hlatshwayo were arrested at a filling station in Olievenhoutbosch Pretoria on Friday night.
They were part of a group of six prisoners who escaped when the police truck transporting prisoners was ambushed by three armed men.
Police are still searching for four other escapees.
Gauteng police commissioner Elias Mawela has commended officers for the swift arrests.

“The public as our eyes and ears in the communities are playing a vital role in the fight against crime. Your tip-offs are all assessed and followed up to ensure that we do not leave any stone unturned in our quest to bring all the escapees back to prison.”
A third suspect was also arrested for aiding and abetting the escapees.
