Gauteng will receive seven new health facilities before the end of the financial year, the province’s Health MEC Bandile Masuku has announced.
Masuku tabled his department’s R55 billion budget during a virtual sitting of the Gauteng legislature on Friday.
“At the end of this financial year, we will open seven new facilities in the province namely Mandisa Shiceka Day Clinic in Hammanskraal, Boikhutsong Clinic in Soshanguve, Phillip Moyo CHC in Daveyton eTwatwa, Khutsong South in Khutsong Carltonville, Finetown Clinic in Ennerdale, Greenspark Clinic in West Rand, Kekangstad in Kekang Gardnens,” he said.
The department will also be opening what Masuku has hailed as a state-of-the-art neonatal unit at Mamelodi Hospital.
Masuku says the new unit will help the government's efforts to reduce neonatal mortality.
The total budget for the Department of Health in the province for the next year stands at R55.7 billion.
A total of R5.2 billion will be used for the fight against HIV/Aids.
“The target for 2020/ 21 financial year includes testing 3.5 million people for HIV. Retaining treatment for 1.4 million adults and 33 000 children that are under the age of 15years,” addedMasuku.
