Gautrain services expected to return to normal by midday
Updated | By Suné du Toit
Frustrated Gautrain passengers queued for hours on Wednesday morning after a fault disrupted the service between Sandton and Park.
"Please be advised that the train service between Sandton and Park has been disrupted due to a works-train (a train used to conduct maintenance work) failing on the tracks in the Sandton vicinity. As a result trains from Sandton to Rosebank and Park have been disrupted," Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager said in a statement.
Buses were made available to transport passengers along those routes, but Gautrain appealed to passengers to rather make alternate transport arrangements when travelling between the affected stations.
"The train service from Hatfield to Sandton station is not affected and running to schedule. The OR Tambo service is also running to schedule."
The technicians were attending to the problem and services were expected to return to normal by midday.
