Generator in flames on Tuks main campus

Tshwane Emergency Services attended to a fire at the University of Pretoria’s main campus on Thursday morning,
The blaze, which was caused by the explosion of a backup generator, led to the evacuation of the Economic and Management Sciences department and surrounding buildings.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso says a fire engine and a ladder truck were dispatched to the scene.
No injuries have been reported.
Mabaso says they also haven’t picked up any structural damage to the buildings.
“The cause of the explosion and fire has not yet been determined. The impact of the loss of one of the generators has not yet been communicated by the university authorities.”
The university’s spokesperson Rikus Delport says academic activities on campus continue as normal.
