Frischke’s family took to social media on Sunday calling on hospitals to check whether the 22-year-old might have been admitted and for the public to assist in the search for their son.

“Reports suggested that Nick was a resident at a local Air Bed and Breakfast in Pinelands. On Tuesday, 14 February 2023 at around 10 am, he left the premises on foot and never returned.

“At the time of his disappearance, he was last seen wearing a blue denim shorts with white tekkies and a beige T-shirt and a backpack.  He was seen in a local store in the V&A Waterfront. It is imperative to note that Nick does not speak English very well,” the police said in a statement.

On Tuesday, police in the suburb of Pinelands stated that new information had been received that Frischke was possibly spotted in Hout bay after Valentine's Day.

“It has since emerged that Nick was possibly spotted in Hout Bay on 15 February 2023 where he was dropped off by an e-hailing service. He was scheduled to go for a hike in Karbonkelberg,” the statement added.
