A four-year-old girl has been kidnapped in Soweto, allegedly by the mother's ex-boyfriend, Gauteng police said on Sunday.
He allegedly called the mother on Saturday night and threatened to run away with her daughter if she did not come back to him, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.
At the time he was at a house in Gaobatlelwe Street, Orlando East, with the girl and several other people.
"She says it's an ex-boyfriend. She did not want to come back to him. He grabbed the child from the people in the house and ran away."
A search for the girl began on Saturday night. Makhubela appealed to residents to help police find the girl and the man.
