Girl, woman killed in KZN crash

A 12-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were killed in a taxi accident on the M25 near Besters, KwaMashu, in KwaZulu-Natal, on Monday morning, paramedics said.

"Reports indicate that a taxi veered off the road, hurtled across the centre median, and slammed head-on into another taxi, in the end leaving four taxis and a light motor vehicle involved in the accident," Netcare 911 spokesman Chris Botha said.
The cause of the accident was not known, and the detail given was speculative.
The child and the woman died on the scene. Two people were critically injured, eight were seriously injured, and nine others had minor injuries. Fire-fighters used hydraulic equipment to extricate some of the people from the wreckage.
The M25 was closed to traffic in both directions.
