Glimmer of hope for Pretoria East residents without water
Updated | By Bulletin
The City of Tshwane says Rand Water has informed it that repairs by Eskom technicians at the Mapleton Booster Pumping Station have been completed.
The Bronberg water system inlet has also been opened. A series of power trips compromised the water provision to some communities that experienced reduced water supply or lack of water.
The metro’s spokesperson, Lindela Mashigo, said that the restoration of the power supply provided a glimmer of hope to the areas of Pretoria East affected by the water outages.
“This will contribute immensely to reservoirs that benefit directly from the Bronberg water system.
“A series of power trips compromised the water provision to some communities that experienced reduced water supply or lack of water. The latest update puts the pumping load of the water system at 100%.
“Upon observing and checking the levels of some reservoirs impacted by the Mapleton power failure, an improvement could be detected this (Tuesday) morning.
“Over and above the repairs by the technicians involved, a discernible upswing in the water storage facilities can be attributed to lower demand overnight,” Mashigo added.
