Gloves came off during ANC, DA & EFF debate
Updated | By Silindelo Masikane
The gloves came off last night as the ANC, DA and EFF debated the city of Johannesburg’s future.
Ahead of the August local government poll, all three parties made a case for their individual parties running the city’s affairs.
Service delivery, unemployment and economic growth were all mentioned as top of the list of things to tackle.
The ANC' Geoffrey Makhubo maintains the city is in good hands while DA mayoral Candidate Herman Mashaba stated poor leadership is the city’s biggest problem.
"Ten thousand people come to Johannesburg every month, looking for jobs and we need to accommodate those people, Makhubo said.

Makhubo added that the economy is changing and that the City of Johannesburg need to keep up with that change.
The DA's Herman Mashaba said that 750 jobs are lost in Johannesburg everyday.
"But at the same rate that jobs in Johannesburg are being lost, the City of Cape Town is creating jobs," Mashaba said.
The EFF's Floyd Shivambu says the city should be declared a special economic zone to boost growth and job creation.
"Johannesburg is declining in terms of jobs and the EFF is planning on taking over the city," Shivambu said.
