This decision came from the meeting of the GNU clearing house mechanism on Wednesday, that was set up to help coalition parties resolve policy disagreements.

In their previous meeting, leaders from the ten parties remained divided on the education act.

The act, passed last month, has been strongly opposed by the DA, which boycotted the signing ceremony at the Union Buildings.

Discussions focused on clause 4, which grants the Basic Education Department greater control over admissions policy, and clause 5 which requires school governing bodies to submit language policies to the provincial head of department for approval.

The new team has three months to work through these policy differences.

It includes the DA federal executive chair Helen Zille, ANC chief whip Mdumiseni Ntuli, Deputy Justice Minister Andries Nel, Freedom Front Plus leader Corne Mulder, and GOOD Party secretary general Brett Herron.

They are expected to report back to the clearing house within two weeks.

The Presidency says all parties have agreed to set aside political interests to find a solution that will benefit all South Africans.
