He was speaking at the JSE on Monday following an investor roadshow to both the UK and USA.

He said the investment world is watching SA very closely.

Gordhan said many of these investors had been involved in SA for years, and they still had confidence that we had the ability and resources to ensure economic growth.

He said the time has come for us to have the same kind of confidence.

"Ensure that people who doubt our credibility in this regard are given constant signals, but more importantly evidence, that business, labour and government will take more and more strides in the right directions," he said.

Gordhan also briefly addressed recent reports of his deputy being offered the top job in the department last year, before former Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene was fired.

Over the last week, several publications reported on Mcibisi Jonas meeting with both the Gupta family and the ANC's Jessie Duarte.

However, Gordhan remained largely mum, except saying that he had no personal knowledge of this taking place or who the so-called top official within the department confirming this information to media was.

"We know nothing about that and, in any event, so-called senior officials are not required to enter into the political terrain on these sorts of matters and if we do find out that somebody crossed the line, we will deal with that."
