Gordhan, Eskom in urgent meeting over diesel shortage
Updated | By Makhosazane Twala
The Department of Public Enterprises says it's working with the National Treasury and Eskom to find the money to buy more diesel for the power utility.

Eskom has no diesel for its open-cycle gas turbines.
The power utility says it won’t have the cash to buy fuel until the start of its next financial year on 1 April 2023, and won’t start the OCGTs until it receives the necessary funding.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan held an urgent meeting with the Eskom board on Sunday night.
According to the department, the two parties discussed stabilising the electricity grid through maintenance and addressing criminal activities hampering Eskom.
Meanwhile stage 4 power cuts continue until 4pm on Monday, with stage 5 thereafter until midnight.
