Government hosts national disability rights summit
Updated | By ANA
The Department of Social Development has announced that together with the South African Disability Sector it will host a three-day Disability Rights Summit from Thursday to discuss the White Paper.
“The White Paper on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is a crucial step along the journey of improving the lives of persons with disabilities,” said Minister of Social Development Bathabile Dlamini.
“It moves us closer to a fully inclusive society for all as envisioned in the Freedom Charter which unambiguously stated that South Africa belongs to all who live in it.”
President Jacob Zuma is expected to deliver a keynote address and officially open the Summit at Saint Georges Hotel, Centurion and launch the policy on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The summit will end on Saturday.
