Govt appeal of lockdown ruling to be heard on Wednesday

The government is set to apply for leave to appeal the ruling on the lockdown regulations in the High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday.
The same court earlier declared the level 4 and level 3 lockdown regulations unconstitutional and invalid.

Liberty Fighters Network founder Reyno De Beer, who won the first legal round against the government, says government’s decision to appoint a heavyweight attorney indicates their desperation win.
“Cooperative Governance Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is adamant in defending government against the court’s declaration of unconstitutionality and invalidity of the lockdown regulations, having called in heavyweight Advocate Wim Trengove.
“LFN believes that Dlamini-Zuma should make peace with the fact that her reign as the lockdown dictator will come to an end very soon.’’
