Govt response to state capture inquiry ‘underwhelming’ - analyst
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Cabinet is due to receive a report soon on the progress made in the implementation of the recommendations of the commission of inquiry into state capture.

The commission’s chair Justice Raymond Zondo handed over the report's final volumes to President Cyril Ramaphosa in June 2022.
Four months later, Ramaphosa submitted to Parliament the government's plan for implementing the recommendations.
Political analyst Ralph Mathekga says the government's response to the inquiry has been underwhelming.
"The big question is whether we have gone further in terms of corrections, prosecuting those that are perpetrators and being able to even correct some of the state institutions that have been vulnerable under state capture.
"Not very much was done, one wanted to get a sense of urgency, but we have not seen that and looking at the political alignment and the pulse of government as to what could be the priority of government at this point in time."
