Grace Mugabe's diplomatic immunity null and void, says Sisulu
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The Department of International Relations says the immunity granted to Zimbabwe's former first lady Grace Mugabe is null and void.
Minister Lindiwe Sisulu briefed the media in Pretoria on Thursday.
Sisulu also gave an update on the recently-held BRICS summit, well as the elections in Zimbabwe.
"We have decided that the conferment of Grace Mugabe's immunity, as published in the Government Gazette, is null and void as the court has set it aside already," said Sisulu.
The Johannesburg High Court earlier this week set aside Mugabe's diplomatic immunity.
It also granted a cost order against the department and former minister Maite Nkoane-Mashabane.

"The lawyers have studied the documents and the outcomes of the case and having being advised by lengthy legal discussions between ourselves and other legal entities, that the department will carry the legal costs as pointed out by the courts," Silulu told reporters.
The minister did not want to comment on Wednesday's post-election violence in Harare, amid accusations by the opposition of election fraud.
Sisulu said government will only be in a position to comment on Zimbabwe after the announcement of a new president has been made.
The results of the presidential election are expected to be announced before Saturday.
