Jacaranda FM News' Zimbabwean correspondent Zenzele Ndebele says Grace Mugabe addressed two rallies this weekend.

"Addressing about two rallies on Saturday and Sunday, she said there was nothing wrong with her succeeding her husband, because that has been done before."

Ndebele says Grace Mugabe also called for the sacking of the country's Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

"In a series of speeches in the last few weeks she has been attacking the vice president, accusing him of factionalism and corruption. She has clearly said that Mnangagwa should go."

Ndebele says Mugabe, who is the chairperson of Zanu PF's women's league, wants the country's constitution to be amended in order to guarantee the election of a female vice president.

"President Robert Mugabe indicated on Saturday that they have heard the plea from the women and they are going to change the constitution. Clearly that puts Grace Mugabe in a very favourable position to be the vice president come December's Zanu PF congress."
