Grades 1 & 8 given 7 school days to accept placement offers
The Department of Education in Gauteng has urged parents and guardians of grade 1 and 8 pupils to accept placement offers within seven school days.
The department on Tuesday provided a progress report on its efforts to place pupils at public schools for the 2024 academic year.
A total of 228 027 parents received placement messages, the department said.
Only 99 854 accepted the placements offered as final, while 1 662 accepted placement offers while awaiting further offers.
A total of 126 511 parents have not responded to placement offers.
"Offers not accepted within seven schools will be auto-placed at the school with a placement offer closest to the parent’s home address,” warned the department’s spokesperson, Steve Mabona.
