Her 9-year-old daughter was among the girls.

Inquest dockets have been opened to establish the circumstances of their deaths.

It’s understood the 9-year-old girl was left unattended by her mother but it’s not yet clear how the trio landed inside the freezer.

“According to information available at this stage, the mother of the 9-year-old left her child at a house on Saturday morning 14 November and went to a local tavern,” says provincial police spokesperson Amanda Funani.

On her return, the mother found her daughter missing.

“She went to look for her at her brother’s house and around the neighbourhood, but she could not find her.

“According to reports, the mother went back to the house and noticed that there was something strange with her freezer and she went to look. She found the lifeless bodies of the three young girls,” Funani adds.

The other girls were 8 and 10-years-old.
