‘Gupta associates’ granted bail in fraud case
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The bail application of two alleged Gupta associates in the Randburg Magistrates Court had to be postponed due to a medical emergency.
Former Tegeta Exploration and Resources director Ronica Ragavan, Optimum Coal mine’s former trustee Pushpaveni Govender and former mineral resources deputy director-general Joel Raphela are facing charges of fraud, forgery, uttering, perjury and money laundering totalling R107.5 million.
They all appeared in court on Wednesday, but shortly before proceedings started Raphela appeared dazed and confused.
He was subsequently rushed to hospital for medical attention.
Ragavan and Govender were granted bail of R20 000 each.
All three are expected to be back in court in June.
