Hawks arrest two police reservists

The Hawks have arrested two female police reservists in Polokwane for alleged corruption.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Matimba Maluleke said two women, Constables aged 32 and 40, were stationed at SAPS in Polokwane.
"It is alleged that the duo arrested an illegal immigrant last week Friday and demanded R2000 bribe for her freedom," said Maluleke.
Maluleke said the victim contacted her husband who deposited R400 through e-wallet and she was released on agreement that she would settle the R1 600 balance.
"Only then would she get her cellphone and other personal belongings, which the two women of law had confiscated," said Maluleke.
Maluleke said the matter was reported to the Hawks who arrested the two after receiving R1 600 from an undercover cop.
"They are expected to appear in Polokwane Magistrate Court on Wednesday."
