Over the past two months, around 92 officials from various government departments across all nine provinces have been arrested.

Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says Limpopo had the highest number of arrested officials.

Some 34 traffic officials were arrested in Limpopo.

Mulaudzi says the Hawks are clamping down in corrupt officials.

"It's the issues of greed. It is people that think they are clever to beat the system. Our job as government officials is to serve, is not to come here and make money through dubious means."

The 92 arrests include 28 police officers, 45 traffic officers and six officials from home affairs.

"What is critical is that our country as a whole is viewed as a corrupt. We as law enforcement agents are bound to change that perception. But this can not only be changed by just arresting people, we need to speak to these government officials and inform them about the consequences."
