Hawks nab senior manager in Limpopo premier’s office
Updated | By Lesetja Makhura
The Hawks have arrested a senior manager in the office of Limpopo Premier Stan Mathabatha.
The crime-fighting unit arrested Mbobole Maseko on Thursday.
The 59-year-old is facing charges of fraud.
Maseko, who worked in the Office of Human Resource Management, is accused of misrepresented his qualifications when applying for the post of senior manager in 2012.
"As the result of his misrepresentation, he was shortlisted and eventually appointed into the said position,” said provincial Hawks spokesperson Lethunya Mmuroa.
"His appointment prejudiced the Office of the Premier, which suffered a loss of more than R11 million.”
Maseko made his first appearance in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
