Health DG Sandile Buthelezi placed on precautionary suspension
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The Department of Health has placed its director-general Sandile Buthelezi on precautionary suspension as the investigation into the Digital Vibes scandal continues.

Digital Vibes scored an R150 million-rand irregular tender which was paid over a period of one year.
Buthelezi allegedly approved over R60m in payments to Digital Vibes.
The company was appointed in November 2019 to manage a National Health Insurance communications campaign. However, the scope of the contract was expanded in 2020 to include the communication around Covid-19.
The department's Foster Mohale says Dr Nicholas Crisp will continue to act in his role.
Former health minister Zweli Mkhize was placed on special leave in August by President Cyril Ramaphosa over the matter and has since resigned.
