Heatwave extended until Tuesday
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has on Friday announced the extention of the heatwave until Tuesday.
The heatwave currently blanketing various provinces was initially anticipated to come to an end on Friday.
However, SAWS forcaster Samkelisiwe Thwala confirmed it will persist into the coming week.
"It seems with the heatwave it is going to persist to Sunday especially over the north eastern part of the country. We are looking at provinces such as the central and eastern parts of the Free State, the North-West Province, the north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga, including the southern parts of the Free State.
"From Thursday some cooling can be expected so there could be a possibility of getting a break and having warm temperatures not reaching to the heatwave temperatures."
With Black Friday in full swing, shoppers are urged to drink water and stay out of direct sunlight, if they are waiting outside the shops.
