Heavy rain flushes crocodiles out of a river and near a major road
Updated | By Bishop Baloyi
Residents in the vicinity of the Pienaars River in Limpopo have been urged to look out for crocodiles near the flooded R101.
Limpopo police have urged motorists to avoid the R101 between the Carousel and the Pienaars River after a part of thea bridge collapsed under this week's heavy down pours.
Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says the road flooded after the river burst its banks.
"The nearby RDP houses and other residential areas in the vicinity have been affected."
Ngoepe says an added danger is that of crocodiles flushed out of the over-full river and into the near-by communities.
"Members of the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit, the K9, Disaster Management, Traffic and other Emergency services have been sent to the area to assess the situation."
Motorists are advised to make use of the N1 which runs parallel to the R101.
