The Polokwane High Court in Limpopo has handed a hefty sentence to a 39-year-old man for killing three people in a tavern shooting in 2019.

Maholobela Tanki shot at 14 people during a robbery at a tavern in Northam.
Tanki was sentenced to three life terms by the court on Thursday.
One of his accomplices turned state witness, while the other was not found guilty on all charges.
"During the trial, the court heard that on 12 October 2019, at around 23:20, the accused and his two accomplices went to a tavern in Thabazimbi and demanded money from the teller," said provincial police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba.
"In the process, some of the bystanders tried to intervene. The accused produced a firearm and fired shots randomly at them. Three were shot dead, and eight wounded.
"Suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes."
