Last week, the High Court in Johannesburg found the SABC board decision of was unlawful and invalid and was set aside aside.

Motsoeneng was given seven days to pay back the money, with an interest of 15,5% per annum, calculated from September 2016 to the date of payment.

The deadline lapsed on Wednesday.

The defamed executive slammed the judgment in an interview with the SABC on Thursday morning, labelling it ‘unfair’.

“I think the issue here isthe thing that I have done to transform the SABC is to make sure that the SABC is financially sustainable because during my time, it was happiness at the SABC. I was given you sweetness every time, every year.”

Motsoeneng says he believes another court will reach a different conclusion.

“I operate like lightening. I have already put my papers in court and served those other parties.

“I am appealing the matter.”

He has further labelled the judgement ‘unreasonable’.

“How can the judge say I must pay within seven days? I don’t have bags of monies that I go with. I don’t have that money.”

The litigation against Motsoeneng forms part of the Special Investigating Unit’s bid to recover financial losses suffered by the SABC through irregular payments made to some individuals and entities.
