Lesufi was speaking at the school on Wednesday morning, following a video released on social media and showing two pupils fighting on the school ground.

In the video, one of the pupils can be seen punching the other and kicking him before slamming his body onto the tiled bathroom floor.

The School Governing Body (SGB) is expected to hear the matter of the two pupils on Wednesday evening.

"That is why I said to the SGB if you have this kind of situation, act and act decisively. Because if you don't do that, you encourage other pupils to say nothing happened to this one so I can do it also," says Lesufi.

Lesufi says children have to be taught not to resolve situations using violence.

"We just want to monitor the situation and reassure parents that our schools remain safe generally."

Hoërskool Kempton Park Principal, Francois De Kock, says the school will make sure that a similar incident does not happen.

He adds they also want to grow awareness amongst learners about the impact of social media and that learners should rather try and break up a fight than stand around and record it on their cell phones.
