Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
The premier of Limpopo, Phophi Ramathuba, confirmed that plans are underway to grant Hoedspruit airport an international license, in her maiden address at the opening of the 7th provincial legislature on Friday.

According to her, the heritage sites in the province are increasingly attracting tourists from abroad - driving the need to accommodate international flights.
"We also have two heritage sites that have been declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Mapungubwe and Makapan valley. These heritage sites continue to be the province's shining icon, that must be used as selling points to the global community.
"To this day plans are underway to have the Hoedspruit airport to be granted an international license because of the increasing number of overseas tourists who visit the Kruger National Park".
She said the heritage sites will help attract more tourists to Limpopo.
