Home Affairs deputy minister Nzuza hijacked in Midrand

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Njabulo Nzuza was hijacked at gunpoint on Thursday afternoon, police have confirmed on Friday.
Nzuza was leaving a making his way out of a Midrand shopping mall when he was allegedly followed by a VW Golf GTi.
Police spokesperson Vish Naidoo says the two occupants flashed Nzuza with their blue lights, asking him to pull over.
“And when he did the men confronted him with firearms and they subsequently hijacked him.”
Nzuza was also forced to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash.
“They drove around with him for a few hours, drew money from an ATM before dropping him off in Mamelodi West where he reported the incident” says Naidoo.
No arrests have been made.
“There haven’t been any reports of injury at this stage but the deputy minister was able to get to the police station on his own,” Naidoo adds.
