Home Affairs remains closed on Saturday
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The Department of Home Affairs is apologising to customers on the third Saturday its offices around the country are closed.
Negotiations continue between the department and unions over working hours on a Saturday.
Home Affairs spokesperson David Hlabane says no deadline has been set to reach an agreement.
"We are concerned about the time we are taking on this matter and the fact that we have not opened," says Hlabane.
Unions Nehawu and PSA are demanding that staff be paid for work done on Saturdays.
Hlabane says behind-the-scene talks continue.
"Last week, we met over three days. This week we continued. The last meeting went this Thursday till very, very, very, very late in the night. The challenge is just around finding each other."
