Human Rights Commission heads to court over PAC’s ‘one settler, one bullet’ chants

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) says it will take the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) to the Equality Court for the party’s chants of “one settler, one bullet” outside Brackenfell High School.

PAC members reportedly chanted the controversial slogan during an anti-racism protest outside the Cape Town school last week Wednesday.
The party’s members were met with resistance from police officers, who cordoned off several roads leading to the school, resulting in a stand-off between the two groupings.
Commissioner André Gaum says the commission believes that it has a prima facie case against the PAC.

“With regards to the one settler one bullet comment by the PAC, the commission believes there is a prima facie case to be made out and will take that matter to the Equality Court.
“We have taken a decision to take the PAC to court on the one settler one bullet remarks and so on. So everyone should leave it in the commission’s hands and allow us to do our work.”
Last week, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) also rocked up at Brackenfell High to protest against racism at the school.
The school hit the headlines after it emerged that a group of pupils hosted a private matric dance which excluded their black counterparts.
