‘I am not corrupt, nor have I taken money’

Duduzane Zuma has told the commission of inquiry into state capture that allegations by former deputy minister of finance Mcebisi Jonas has had a negative impact on his life.
Jonas implicated Duduzane in state capture during his testimony in August 2018, when he told the commission that he was offered R600 million by the Guptas and the son of former president Jacob Zuma to replace then Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene.
Duduzane says the allegations painted him in a bad light.
“I’m looked at as a criminal, I’m looked at as the face of corruption.I am looked at as this guy that has plundered trillions out of this country, which is not the case by the way. I am not corrupt, I have not taken any money from anybody. I never have and never will.”
On the first day of his testimony, Duduzane disputed Jonas’ testimony that he was unaware that he was being taken to the Gupta residence in Saxonwold, where the meeting was subsequently held.
Duduzane said that there was a “mutual agreement” between the three parties to hold the meeting at the Gupta private residence in Saxonwold.
