"I am ready to serve the nation" says President Ramaphosa

Newly elected President Cyril Ramaphosa says he is honored to be elected into the highest office in South Africa, describing it as a humbling moment.
Ramaphosa was elected in the National Assembly on Thursday.
MPs however did not vote, as he was the only nominated candidate for the position.
This is after former president Jacob Zuma tendered his resignation on Wednesday evening following the ANC's decision to recall him.
The EFF failed to get a motion to dissolve parliament debated and left the house moments before Ramaphosa was elected.
He thanked members of parliament for the opportunity.
"I thank you for the honour you bestow on me by electing me to this position. I truly feel humbled to be given this great privilege of being able to serve our people. I also want to extend my gratitude to leaders of political parties who are here as well as the media, this for me is a truly humbling occasion," says Ramaphosa.
The President told MPs that he will miss being a member of parliament, however he looks forward to attending parliament and accounting to the country.
Ramaphosa says he will start his work by meeting with all political parties in parliament.
He told MPs that he is ready to tackle corruption and remedy the crises at state owned enterprises
Ramaphosa is expected to deliver the state of the nation address on Friday.
He will be the President of the country until the general elections in 2019.
