IFP election manifesto promises free education, jobs
Free education, jobs and a secure future for energy were just some of the few promises made by the Inkatha Freedom Party.
The party's president Velenkosini Hlabisa launched the IFP's election manifesto at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday.
Hlabisa delivered a 13-point manifesto plan to the stadium that was filled to capacity.
Supporters arrived dressed in IFP regalia, sporting berets, shirts and banners honouring their former leader and founder, Mangosuthu Buthulezi.
Hlabisa said under the IFP government they'll enforce a set 80/20 employment target.
"Companies must employ a minimum of 8% of the people of South Africa compared to the foreign nationals."
On the energy crisis, he says the country's supply has become unreliable and unsustainable.
"The IFP government will stabilise the electricity power grid. Eskom is a national asset which has been mismanaged into a state of severe despair. Eskom must be managed through a public-private partnership," he said.
Hlabisa also promised free education for all.
"The IFP under education will do the following: we will implement free basic education and state sponsored education for the poor and the low-income families as the fundamental component of our education policy."
