IFP questions unsolved killings of its members

This follows the shooting on Monday afternoon of Fuhluza Khumalo as he arrived at his home in Inanda.
The IFP’s national chairman Blessed Gwala said the party was “reeling” from the killing which comes barely a month after Mbhasobheni Biyela was gunned down in neighbouring KwaMashu.
“While we call on our law enforcement agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and brought to justice, we question why the police are unable to get to the bottom of these killings,” Gwala said.
He said the party was also questioning why rewards were offered for information when a member of the African National Congress was killed, but none was offered when an IFP member was killed.
KwaZulu-Natal community safety and liaison MEC Willies Mchunu said Khumalo, 58, was gunned down as he arrived at his Inanda home.
He said that Khumalo, who was a local community policing forum member, had returned from a meeting at the KwaMashu hostels when he was shot.
Mchunu said he was shocked at the killing and urged police to do all they could to bring Khumalo’s killers to justice. -ANA
