The minister believes this is due to measures put in place by government to restrict movement and border control.

Mkhize says in a statement government remains cautious until there is a clearer picture of what is happening in densely populated townships.

"We should not be lulled into complacency but continue to venture forth in full combat by proactivity conducting wall-to-wall testing and finding all COVID-19 affected people in the country," says Mkhize.

So far, 1462 positive coronavirus cases have been confirmed with an increase of 82 cases.

The death toll remains at five.

"We wish to indicate that we are awaiting the reports of two more deaths. Once these have been concluded and verified we will inform the public of the revised number of deaths.

"We slowly see an increase in numbers of recoveries; however, recovery numbers do tend to lag behind because of the criteria for recovery," says Mkhize.

The minister says the focus of the government is finding all active cases and treating those who are very ill.
