Menlopark High School is investigating an incident which allegedly involved animal cruelty during a celebration by Grade 12 learners.
The prestigious school has appointed an independent investigator to determine the facts behind allegations that the school’s learners were involved in animal cruelty.
“If there is any truth in this assertion, we will act accordingly,” vowed principal Schalk Reynders.
According to Sunday newspaper, Rapport, parents are outraged after matric learners during their finals days before examinations, brought chickens and rats to school and kicked the animals.

“Not a single rat or chicken survived the day,” the newspaper claimed.
This necessitated an independent probe.
“I am aware of the allegations that have been made and therefore an independent person has been appointed to investigate these allegations,” says Reynders.
The NSPCA confirmed to Jacaranda FM that it is investigating the matter and has called on members of the community to provide it with information.
