Interest rate announcement today
The South African Reserve Bank's Monetary Policy Committee is expected to make an interest rate announcement Thursday afternoon.
Yesterday, Stats SA announced that inflation was down again in August - from 6 percent in July to 5,9 percent.
Econometrix Chief Economist, Dr Azaar Jarmine believes today's announcement would reflect this.
"With the Rand strengthening the way it has done in the last few weeks, the inflationary pressures - longer term - are likely to reduce. So, one doesn't see interest rates rising either under any particular pressure at present," he said.
