Interpol issues red notice for Gupta brothers, wives

Interpol has issued red notices for two Gupta brothers wanted in connection with alleged corruption, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) announced on Monday.
In a statement on Monday Hermione Cronje, head of the National Prosecuting Authority’s Investigating Directorate, said the notices were issued for Atul and Rajesh Gupta and their wives, and four other people.
Cronje said efforts to bring the Guptas back to South Africa have intensified.
Meanwhile, the Bloemfontein Regional Court postponed R25 million Nulane Investment case.
Former Transnet Board member Iqbal Sharma, Nulane Investment employee Dinesh Patel and, former Free State officials Peter Thabethe, Limakatso Moorosi and Seipati Dhlamini face charges of fraud and money laundering.
The former government officials are also charged with contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
The case relates to procurement fraud involving R24.9 million, paid between November 2011 and April 2012 by the Free State Department of Agriculture to Nulane Investment.
Investigating Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka says the matter will be transferred to the Bloemfontein High Court on 6 September for trial.
