Derrick Bopape was shot in the leg by police after he threw bricks at windows and attacked police officers in their vehicle two weeks ago.

Ipid spokesperson Moses Dlamini says the police watchdog originally IPID probed the discharge of a police firearm, but will now focus on the Bopape’s death.

"The video footage was obtained to assist the investigation in clarifying what led to the shooting.

"The investigation continues and no arrest has been made.”

A video of Bopape attacking the police vehicle and throwing bricks at the school windows made the rounds on social media.

The incident on video also shows Bopape being shot by one of the police officers while attacking the police vehicle on the school premises.
