The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating allegations that a woman was raped at KwaMkhutha Police Station in KwaZulu-Natal.

Ipid spokesperson Ndileka Cola says the incident took place last month.
"It is alleged that the victim, a 24-year-old woman, was taken by the police officer from one of the shops to KwaMakhutha SAPS, where the victim was allegedly raped in one of the offices inside the police station.
"Ipid has resumed the investigation process, which includes visiting the crime scene to gather all the necessary evidence. The directorate has also visited the victim and acquired her first statement.”
