Ishmael Semenya to lead De Ruyter racism probe
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Eskom has appointed Advocate Ishmael Semenya to head up the probe into allegations of racism against its CEO Andre de Ruyter.
The power utility last month resolved to appoint an independent inquiry after De Ruyter was accused of helping purge black suppliers in favour of white ones.
In a statement on Friday, Eskom vowed to provide updates at critical stages of the inquiry.
“Advocate Semenya has also been requested to make recommendations to be pursued by the Board against any specific individuals if any wrongdoing is found.
“Advocate Semenya is free to request and to receive Eskom documents, and to consult with any witnesses deemed relevant and necessary for the purposes of this inquiry.
“The Board requests that Advocate Semenya be given space to conduct the investigation unhindered, to enable him to complete the inquiry and issue his report at his earliest possible convenience.”
