Jan Kempdorp man arrested for stabbing dog

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on charges of malicious damage to property after he allegedly stabbed a Boerboel dog at a guest house in Jan Kempdorp.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergio Kock confirmed that Willem Calitz appeared in court on Monday.
"The suspect was arrested on Sunday and appeared in court on Monday. The case was temporarily removed from the court roll for the finalisation of police investigations.”

Video footage of the incident has surfaced on social media.
In the video, a man alleged to be an intoxicated Calitz is seen walking up to the dog and stabbing it.
