A rape suspect who fled from an interrogation room has been caught by Japanese police.

Japanese police have captured a rape suspect who fled from an interrogation room at a prosecutors' office near Tokyo following a rare, nationwide manhunt. The suspect, Yuta Sugimoto, 20, was found Thursday hiding in a park in the nearby city of Yokohama.
Television showed police escorting Sugimoto to a waiting police car. He fled Tuesday while meeting with his lawyer at the prosecutors' office in Kawasaki, south of Tokyo. Police on Wednesday mobilized 4,000 officers for the manhunt following an unsuccessful overnight search.
The escape also triggered fears among residents in the area. Some parents accompanied their children to schools, while students went to school in groups. Police say Sugimoto was arrested Monday on suspicion of robbing and gang-raping a woman with another man.
